_ CHARLOTTE KEMP MUHL

DIRECTOR, COMPOSER, ENGINEER

Charlotte Kemp Muhl grew up homeschooled traveling between military bases in gifted child programs, winning national writing contests for the Olympics, Coca Cola and Meryl Lynch. By the age of 9 she was the youngest member of the National Poet Society and by the age of 12 won the Elite modeling contest which got her a contract flying to NYC.

At 16 Kemp was signed as the new face of Maybelline, and by 19 she started a band with Sean Lennon. Their album Midnight Sun was listed by NPR and Rolling Stone as a best album of 2014.

Soon she started her own project “Uni and The Urchins” with themes of transhumanism and A.I., writing, producing, mixing and mastering the project herself. She directed all the videos, winning multiple awards from BMVA.

Other artists from The Smashing Pumpkins, Jodorowsky and Mark Stoermer from The Killers have hired her to direct videos, after which she also won best director in the Florence film award, Paris play film festival and Budapest film festival.

Charlotte has acted in Jim Jarmusch's film, The Dead Don't Die, and has scored the orchestral soundtrack for Crispin Glover's new film.

Kemp played the bass on Jack White's last album, performed as Lou Reed and Yoko Ono’s bassist, and has a background in string arranging, with a particular interest in classical and 1970s prog rock.

She has appeared on multiple covers of Nylon magazine, Japanese Vogue, Numero, Jalouse, Harper’s Bazaar, L’Officiel, Oyster, and has written articles on A.I. for Billboard Magazine and Talkhouse.
